The supply of “non-compliant, unsuitable and often faulty structural steelwork” in Australia is being targeted by the Standards Australia in the Australian standard for Structural steelwork – Fabrication and erection.
The roll out of the new National Structural Steelwork Compliance Scheme starts with the structural engineer specifying the Construction Category based on importance level, service category and fabrication category as well as improved specification of steelwork.
Fabricators are progressively being audited for compliance with the code and in time this website will be where you can find fabricators that have completed certification according to the Construction Category specified on the structural engineer’s drawings.
