Don’t forget there are special rules for decks (and buildings in general) in bushfire prone areas. This design wouldn’t comply.

this method is not good enough when you are building in a bushfire zone because the house wall needs to be cladded in a way that the framing timbers for decking if on fire cannot set fire to the floors and walls of the house.
